Pink Ribbon Fun Run & Walk for Breast Cancer Awareness

This Saturday, September 24th, Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, is holding their annual 5K and 1 Mile Run, to raise awareness of breast cancer prevention, early detection and survivorship. LA Images is honored to be their official photographer again. The TMH staff does such a great job, I'm sure 2011 will be even better than before!

Here's What LA Images will be doing this year:
~We will capture candids, photos at the finish line, from the awards ceremony and more!
~Post the images online for anyone to view and order.
~LA Images will have a table set up with some of our work and information about our portraits.

The phone has been ringing and I've been chatting with many excited brides these last few weeks, so I can't help getting excited about my 2011 wedding season this year! I've already had some awesome engagement sessions and I look forward to more!

Canfield Fair Photography Award

Exciting news! I was recently honored with a ribbon at the Canfield Fair for my portrait photography. I entered two pieces in the Fine Arts Professional Division for Photography and received my ribbon for my portrait of a newborn in a basket, Lillian. I am thrilled to have been awarded among so many wonderful pieces. My work was shown from Sept. 1st until Labor Day in the Fine Arts Building. It was nice to hear how many facebook friends had a chance to take a look and Congratulate me. Thank you, I really appreciate all your feedback :)

Special thanks to my newborn's parents, Kristin and Matt Steele and Jeff at the Framing Lodge in Hermitage, who took so much time helping me find the perfect frame for this piece.

Studio Grand Opening, Website and Seniors

Hello everyone,
Thank you if you were able to attend our studio's Grand Opening event! It was nice to see so many new faces and meet everyone! It turned out to be a successful and fun day! I hope to hear from you all soon, since I know you will call to use your free session coupon! I'm so glad everything came together so well. I was able to get so many images and frame/collage samples on my studio and office walls. I would like to thank my graphic designer, Vicki and photography assistant, Kayla for all their hard work and dedication, but I especially need to recognize my Dad, husband and family for helping me with all the details getting to this point and putting up with me and the studio! Most of my facebook fans already know about the Annual Model Search I am currently running... I am looking for babies and children under 12 to be one of the faces of LA Images Photography. I really need some good images from my new studio so I can create samples for my very bare studio & office walls! These images may also be used for advertising or publications. One price of $25 will include the session time, the photo contest entry fee (details below)and your favorite image in 5x7. A watermarked CD of all the images will be given with a $99 print/product order.

Happy New Year! Can you believe 2010 is here already??? Even though I could do without the freezing weather, I am always excited for this time of year since it is a time for renewal and improvements. Now that my wedding season has slowed down, I still have albums to design, but I try to catch up on the things I haven't had a chance to do in awhile. Like improving my website, marketing, attending seminars and writing this blog!! I hope I can get my website and blog complete before the last bridal show at Mr. Anthony's in Boardman, January 31st... This is the season where love and bridal shows are in the air. Couples usually get engaged around the holidays and I get the most calls, bookings and website hits in January and February...time is ticking...

I also decided to update my website photo so last week I had pics taken at the Butler Art in Youngstown. It is a whole different experience in front of the camera and I'd rather be the artist and director on the other side! My friends Courtney Wright of studio 21 took the photos and my assistant, Shawn Cowen came along to check hair, makeup and make me laugh. What a great session it turned out to be. Studio Progress

So my construction team from Becker Builders just finished doing their part to my new photography studio today and it looks amazing! It's hard to believe our breezeway (between our house and garage) used to have a bar, lattice and plastic grass on the ground! Now I have a place to meet my clients, a door to my office where there was once a window, beautiful window light, waiting room, dressing room, high ceilings and a moveable wall!

The last thing they finished doing was texturing the walls, which I LOVE! I can't wait to paint it! I didn't realize how high a 12 foot ceiling really was though, so now I'm a little nervous about loosing my balance on a ladder! I still have alot more to do besides paint, but I'm hoping to open this fall if all goes well. I will keep you posted!

I teamed up with Paul Witkowski (of "Photography by Paul Witkowski") for this wedding and we had a fantastic day. Paul was in of need of an assistant and I was available, so we had the pleasure of photographing this wedding together!

Ashley and Scott are so adorable. We enjoyed ourselves joking around at the Women’s Park, across from the Trumbull County Courthouse. Afterward, Ashley even mentioned how nervous they both were anticipating our time together, but I hardly noticed, they were both laughing and having a good time. Their love for each other is very obvious and just radiates from their images.

Studio Construction Begins!!!

I've waited so long for this...finally I will have my own studio!!! We are turning our breezeway at our home into studio space and it will have it's own entrance as well! The first week of construction has begun and it has been a busy, noisy week! Dan Shurilla, Brandon and Matt from Becker Builders have been wonderful! Thanks guys for being so patient with me, you are making my dreams come true!

I was in heaven today photographing one of my nicest couples' for their ceremony at St. Columba Cathedral. It is so immense and absolutely breathtaking there with all the light streaming through the windows. I think I sat down once during the whole ceremony then jumped back up again because I kept finding new angles or detail shots of the cathedral itself that I wanted to use for their album.

Then we spent some time at the little wooden bridge in Mill Creek park. I took some of my favorite images here. Kara looked so gorgeous when I turned her just the right way to light her & her veil in the sunlight!

Their reception took place at the Velma Davis Center at Mill Creek. We took a few photos on the little patio out back, and Mark stepped up on the ledge to be a taller for Kara, and soon realized how cool Mark is about Kara being a little taller. He really has a great sense of humor about it. I can see these two laughing together when they are old and gray. Congratulations Kara & Mark!

I'm back at the flower gardens today with more great poses and ideas. Most of the time, I surprise myself because the perfect pose will come to me when I'm in a particular location like they did all day today. I usually don't go way to the back of the park, but I discovered some new favorite spots that I'll definitely return to after today!

Thank you Jason was being such a sport and allowing me to be creative for so long. It was fun kidding around with you both. You are right, there are NOT a ton of guys who will listen to another female tell them what to do!!! So I thank you, and so does Tiffany because your photos look amazing!!! Now wasn't it all worth it!?

I will be making a guest book with their top picks for their wedding guests to sign on their big day, which is October 17th, this year. They will be tying the knot at St. Patrick's church here in Hubbard, and will have a blast with a bridal party of 18 at their reception in Squaw Creek Country Club. Looking forward to it!

Paul and Jennifer...

This couple proves that you can fall in love online! Don't be surprised-- I have two other couples that met the same way! It's so exciting that even with our changing technology, love can find it's way anywhere! They started chatting in 2004, while Paul was stationed in Iraq. Three years and 2 tours in Iraq later, he popped the question and of course Jen said 'I Do!'

I met with Jennifer and her Mom for our initial consultation around Christmas and we talked about Paul’s fellow soldiers and the sacrifices they make every day for us. They also shared that they were preparing care packages to send to Paul's friends and random soldiers overseas. I can't imagine what it must be like for Jennifer to be a million miles away from Paul and worry about him constantly. There are so many brave men and women separated from their loved ones overseas and we should all take a moment to really appreciate what they are doing for us. It was an eye opening experience for me. I was so inspired, I located a soldier in the newspaper from the Hubbard area stationed in Afganistan and prepared my own care package and card for him. I really felt great going to the post office with it. Its the little things that count, and our soldiers believe that the most.

Jen had me smiling the whole time she was getting ready. She was just so laid back and fun to be around, which I don't always see with brides so early in their day. You could tell the two of them were best friends and it was easy to see why they are a good match.

Paula & Frank

I first met Paula at Mr. Anthony’s bridal show in January. She already had a wedding photographer booked, but after talking with me and looking through my albums she decided she wanted me to take her engagement pictures. Paula was so photogenic, but her fiancé, Frank made up for it since he started out as one tough cookie. We did a variety of poses and after awhile, I knew we didn’t have enough shots of Frank looking happy. I had been cracking jokes, making fun of myself and even singing off-key, and Frank barely cracked a smile! Finally, when he realized I wasn’t leaving ‘til I saw a real smile from him, and how badly Paula wanted great photos, he started to warm up and show his pearly whites. In the end, we were all happy with the results… now I just wish I could be there for them on their big day.

These two knew just how to make each other laugh and had great chemistry together. I'm so glad I'll be their wedding photographer this October-- it will be alot of fun. We lucked out with great weather today since there was a high chance of rain. We strolled around downtown Youngstown, on the campus of YSU, inside the Butler Art, and to a secret location for my engaged couples only....;)

This was the first time I photographed a senior at this location and I'm soooooo happy shooting here! The best part is it is in my back yard in Hubbard, Ohio! I've been wanting to shoot here since I've moved here more than a year ago! THANK YOU SO MUCH Hubbard city, James Marsh, & Marsh Development for loving antiques, restoring and collecting trains! :) You have created a perfect outdoor studio for a most-grateful resident!

Today could not have been any better! Not only did I have the perfect location and perfect cloudy day, but my senior model, Jordana was amazing! She fell right into poses with very little effort, was positive even about the rain in the morning, and was a blast to work with!

Today I fell in love with photography again. It happens all the time, so get used to hearing it. hehe :)

Jodi & Doug

Fate brought Jodi and Doug together...They first met 10 years ago while on vacation in Mexico and couldn't believe they were both from the Youngstown area. Then they kept crossing paths in other cities and didn't even realize they met before. After they started dating, they talked about their favorite vacation spots... That's when they realized it wasn't just a coincidence, God had a plan for them--that they were meant to be together!

Now that they are settled down together, Doug cooks up some delicious dishes as the head chef at Alberini's Restaurant, in Niles. Jodi, who instantly makes you feel like an old friend, is not only an awesome hair stylist, but is studying for her accounting degree while juggling their two adorable boys, Noah and Spencer. The ceremony was given by Rev. Betsy Schenk, who was so wonderful to work with at Girard Methodist. Afterwards, Noah kept us entertained while he chatted on the microphone. It was so adorable how he kept saying how much he loved his Mommy and Daddy.

It was a gorgeous day and the tulips at Mill Creek flower gardens were phenomenal! They painted my backgrounds a perfect pink shade that matched the bridesmaids bouquets! At the reception, the guests enjoyed chocolate covered strawberries hand-dipped and painted like tuxedos and made by the groom himself! Check out a few images from their day...My favorite image has to be when I captured the two boys playing peek-a-boo with me over their Daddy's shoulder.

Ava Timko Benefit Dinner Dance

My cousin, Ava Timko is only 15 months old and has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). My first cousin, Lori and her husband Brad, (Ava’s parents) live in Canfield, but have been staying at the hospital in Cincinnati with her while she undergoes chemotherapy treatments. Their lives have been turned upside down since her diagnosis and the doctors believe it will take 7-9 months of treatment before this terrible disease is in remission. Lori and Brad are wonderful parents who are going through a very difficult time, but nonetheless, have been so strong through all of this. I believe Ava will make it through this and grow up to be happy and healthy. I pray she will not remember the long and difficult treatment she is enduring at such a young age. My heart goes out to them and I can't imagine what they are going through….
To raise money for them, there was a dinner dance, April 24 at St. Nicholas’ Social Hall in Struthers, and it turned out to be a HUGE success. Approximately 500 tickets were sold. Thank you Suzanne and Toni Tucci for organizing such an awesome event. I am glad I was able to collect a few baskets and donations, and make one of my own. There was a silent auction and the highest bidder received a free session, an 11x14 print and frame. Congratulations and thank you Alicia Ethen and family for winning! I can't wait to take their family photos! What a fun night it turned out to be for a great cause! See a few photos I took from the dance here:

Sarah & Karl's Engagement Session

These two met in medical school in Cleveland and have been dating 5 years. They now live in Columbus where they are both residents in the podiatry field. Karl will graduate this year, and Sarah next June. I can tell they will make excellent doctors-- they were so in tune with me and really listened so well. Also, something about them just makes you feel so relaxed.

Our time together was nice and laid back since they are so comfortable together. They both have beautiful blue eyes that they knew how to show off with the bright green colors Sarah chose. We went to Buhl Park in Sharon, PA and while we were by the casino, one of the swans swam right next to them, and I caught him at just the right time! They drove around a cute black mini cooper and it looked so fun! I hope it will be around on their wedding day for a few photos!

I will be creating a really nice guest book for the two of them from these images. Their wedding guests can write messages to them on their wedding day in the areas around their favorite photographs. Look for these two on this blog again since I will be their wedding photographer this November.

Kelly and Michael ~ April 4, 2009

Kelly and Michael couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day in April. The sunny skies brighted up the day as much as her girl's cheerful yellow dresses. The bridal party had lots of energy and we captured some fun photos at Mill Creek's flower gardens. Even though Michael didn't want much to do with photos, I was still able to capture great photos of him whispering in Kelly's ear and exchanging glances when he thought I wasn't looking. :)

The two of them share a love for sports, and really made a GRAND entrance into their reception at the lovely Mr.Anthony's. They rushed in, faced the crowd, rubbed their hands together and threw a cloud of magic into the air, just like the Cleveland Cavs', LeBron James.

Later everyone watched an emotional slide show and the pair showing off some impressive dance moves, especially when they danced to N'Sync's "bye bye bye". It almost seemed rehearsed, it was that good. Richie D deejayed and did an incredible job. Everyone was dancing and having such a great time. Definitely a memoriable, emotional and fun reception. Congratulations Kelly and Mike!

Jennifer and Robert are such a sweet couple. They met at a horse show in Jenn's hometown of Iowa 8 years ago and after things progressed, realized they couldn't live apart. They share a love for breeding horses and currently Jenn takes care of almost 20.

They've been planning on tying the knot for quite awhile now, but never really sat down to plan their big wedding. So about a month ago, they decided to have an intimate gathering for their very close friends and family on Valentine's Day. With very little time to plan, the couple, wedding planner Rick Zakrzewski and Linda from The Tara Inn pulled alot of strings and created a really fabulous day for them!

With only 25 guests, they were able to stand up and acknowledge what made each of them such a special part of their lives, and they had everyone in tears! Then we were in for a real surprise when Jenn and her girlfriends decided to sing to Rob. It was such a pleasure being part of their day where so much love filled the air.
